Here again your follower, TV repairer student, Romeo. About the TVs I was repairing earlier I set them aside due to unavailability of spare parts in our locality. I will go to Manila due soon to buy spare parts and do other things I supposed to do.
Now I am repairing another TV, this time it's my own TV, it is a Toshiba CF2033J.The unit is dead and no indication of power. I first check the voltage at the filter cap and showed nothing. I found numerous dry joints at the primary side of the power supply.
I re-soldered these joints and also found one defective electrolytic capacitor (33uF, 250 Volt) in the same line with filter cap. When I first power on the unit I forgot to use the series bulb limiter which I have made earlier as indicated from your eBook, however the unit opens normally, video and sound, but I found something not normal from the screen.
There is some rainbow like patterns from the screen and these one I like to consult with you what I can do to eliminate these 'patterns”. You can see the picture of the screen on the attached file I sent to you.
The TV is connected with cable network. Local channels in our place are not so clear if I use outdoor antenna. In this case we opted to subscribe with the cable company in our place.
Please guide me again sir to further enhance my repair capability. Of course your eBook is my prime guidance in my repair session. Thanks again for your eBook.
You have done a good job; I suggest you continue re-soldering all dry joints in that set, this time secondary side especially around the main Jungle ic and also the small CRT neck board.
I think that should be able to clear that problem, I don’t suspect a component failure for now.
Let me know how it turns out.
Thanks again for your guidance. Now the Toshiba TV is fine when I did what you've suggested.
